Our campaign’s momentum is unstoppable!
The Steve for CAPS-UAW District 3 Head Steward campaign has secured endorsements from two major progressive organizations: the Sacramento-Davis branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and the Sacramento County Central Committee of the Peace and Freedom Party.
“These endorsements represent a powerful statement of solidarity with workers and our fight for justice on the job,” said Steve. “The PSL and the Peace and Freedom Party share our vision for a union that is fearless in standing up to management, protecting our members, and ensuring that our contract reflects the dignity, respect, and fairness every worker deserves. Together, we will keep building a movement rooted in worker power, anti-racism, and a commitment to free Palestine.”
The Sacramento-Davis branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation proudly endorsed the Steve for CAPS-UAW District 3 Head Steward campaign, recognizing Steve’s steadfast solidarity with workers across the labor movement and his vital commitment to supporting State scientists. Steve has stood with UAW auto workers and UPS Teamsters, walked picket lines alongside SEIU-UHW dialysis caregivers, and stood firm with educators from the Sacramento City Teachers Association (SCTA) and California Teachers Association (CTA). He has amplified their voices to secure fair contracts and combat relentless union-busting efforts. Most notably, Steve’s tireless advocacy for State scientists shines through his leadership as a union organizer, strike captain, and bargaining committee member. He has been a vocal and principled opponent of forced return-to-office (RTO) policies and other measures that jeopardize worker safety, efficiency, and equity—consistently advocating for flexible, worker-centered solutions. From resisting privatization to demanding safer, more equitable workplaces, Steve’s unwavering commitment to defending workers’ rights and dignity remains fierce and resolute.
Peace and Freedom Party leaders lauded Steve’s unapologetic pro-labor, anti-war stance and his dedication to deepening democracy within CAPS-UAW.
As Head Steward for CAPS-UAW District 3, Steve pledges to:
Build an unstoppable movement for pay equity for State scientists
Re-ignite the mass movement against return-to-office (RTO). Telework works for California! Hell No RTO!
Defend our contract by creating a next-generation network of stewards to enforce and organize around workplace violations
Make participation in union activities an essential part of workplace culture
Go on offense and fight back—for Palestine, equity, and scientific research funding.
“These endorsements are not only an honor—they’re a call to action,” Steve added. “With the backing of these organizations, we have more strength to mobilize our coworkers, challenge injustice, and win the kind of union we all deserve.”
About the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL)
The Party for Socialism and Liberation believes that there are only two choices for humanity today: an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism. The only solution to the evils of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society. The struggle to defeat capitalism and begin building a socialist society is the most pressing issue faced by humanity today. Read more here.
About the Peace and Freedom Party
The Peace and Freedom Party is committed to socialism, democracy, ecology, feminism and racial equality. We represent the working class, those without capital in a capitalist society. We organize toward a world where cooperation replaces competition, a world where all people are well fed, clothed and housed; where all women and men have equal status; where all individuals may freely endeavor to fulfill their own talents and desires; a world of freedom and peace where every community retains its cultural integrity and lives with all others in harmony.
The Peace and Freedom Party was founded on June 23, 1967, by people who wanted to vote for something they could support. The Democrats were leading the nation in the war against Vietnam. As the military drained the domestic economy, Republicans and Democrats called for "law and order" to repress Americans who wished to improve their own lives. Black militants were rising up angrily in the cities, while Filipino and Latino farmworkers were organizing labor unions in the fields. Women were agitating for full equality with men. These forces of discontent united to create an electoral arm of "The Movement." A massive voter registration drive placed the Peace and Freedom Party on the California ballot in January 1968. On both the state and national level, we have shown a willingness to work with other like minded groups, trying to build a mass based socialist party throughout the country. https://www.peaceandfreedom.us/
