Three Reasons to Support Our Campaign

Members are choosing Steve (he/they) for D3 Head Steward for their long-standing and intensely passionate commitment to building a next-generation network of stewards and to defending members’ rights.

Here are three important facts about our campaign that you need to know before you cast your ballot:

1) Most extensive leadership and organizing experience: Of the eight candidates running, Steve offers the broadest and most sustained record of union service, having served or currently serving in (bold indicates ongoing):

  • CAPS-UAW District 3 Rules Committee

  • CAPS-UAW District 3 Member Support Team

  • CAPS-UAW Local Representative

  • CAPS-UAW RTO Working Group

  • CAPS-UAW Political Action Working Group

  • CAPS-UAW Bargaining Committee

  • CAPS-UAW Catalyst Committee

  • CAPS-UAW Contract Escalation Working Group

  • CAPS Member Action Committee

  • CAPS Government Affairs Committee

  • CAPS Strike Captain

  • CAPS Contract Action Team

2) Only candidate with endorsements: Steve’s backed by the Sacramento County Central Committee of the Peace and Freedom Party and the Sacramento-Davis Branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). These organizations recognize Steve as a young, capable leader able to organize the working class towards a brighter, more democratic, and more just future.

3) Courage to take on ICE terror and Palestinian genocide: Steve’s campaign is the only one addressing these urgent issues directly. When CAPS-UAW leadership failed to act, Steve took initiative and forced management to address ICE-related threats, especially impacting members of color. Steve was also among the earliest and loudest voices calling on CAPS to demand a ceasefire–nearly two years ago. Free Palestine!
